He was born in 1935 in Albalete del Arzobispo (Teruel) into a traditionally musical family and five years later moved to the Basque Country. He first studied at the Musical Conservatory of Bilbao and then at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana de Siena where he began to work on atonal composition with Goffredo Petrassi. He combines his work as a composer and religious music teacher at the Universidad Pontificia in Salamanca and at the Conservatory of Music in San Sebastian with that of choir and orchestra conductor. He is also head of the Baroque Foundation Group in San Sebastian and director of the Easo choir. He has worked with the EUSKADI SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA on various occasions.
