Ney Conceição, a self-taught musician, moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1996 after years of working in the local scene of the Amazon. In Rio, he has been participating as a session man on several records by noted Brazilian instrumentalists and singers. His role at the recording of the soundtrack for the film Amazonian Legends was acknowledged by the composer Sebastião Tapajós, with whom Conceição performs regularly.
